In the natural world, the rule is 'adapt or go extinct.' In this program, students learn about the process of evolution as they compete in a game of survival. Spinning the "wheel of death," learning immunity from extinction, and voting each other off the island we call Earth are just a few of the challenges that await them.

This guided Badlands Hike through Midland Provincial Park will help you discover the wonders of this amazing landscape. The badlands tell the story of Alberta's changing environments, from the temperate climate of the Cretaceous Period, to today's arid conditions. With expert guidance, students unlock the ancient secrets of this mysterious landscape. In case of inclement weather, we offer an alternate program or a refund.

In the early 20th century, fossil hunters did not always document their excavation sites, and key information was often lost. With students' help, we locate and uncover one of these lost quarries. During this interactive, multi-media program, participants experience the badlands and discover how scientists find fossils.

Examine real fossils, hold a replica dinosaur brain, and assemble a life-sized “raptor” skeleton. Students will learn about adaptations and simple machines through a series of fun activities, culminating with them working in groups to build a mechanical “raptor” leg, which they will bring to life in a dinosaur-inspired relay race.

Everyone likes solving a mystery! In this program, students discover how palaeontologists use clues from the past to learn about ancient life. Through a variety of challenges and activities, they use their detective skills to identify herbivores and carnivores, and to understand the differences between dinosaurs and other animals.

By using simple chemical reactions, we can create a cast of an original fossil for display. In this popular program, students create a replica of a Museum fossil to take home, complete with details about the fossil's age, and where it was found. Participants also learn how molds and casts are made, and examine real fossils.
