Dig Experience

People use tools in a simulated outdoor dig.

Experience the thrill of excavation, just like a palaeontologist, in this simulated outdoor dig.


Please Note:

Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paid adult registered in the program.

Participants must be at least 5 years of age. This is due to the hiking distance, the use of tools, and the program content.

Wheelchairs are not permitted due to the uneven terrain. People with physical limitations may find the hike difficult.

In case of inclement weather, an indoor version of the program will be offered.


Dates & Times

Summer 2024 (June 28 – August 31; daily): 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m.
Fall 2024 (September 1 – October 14; weekends only and holiday Mondays): 1:15 p.m.

Program Schedules



Summer in Alberta's badlands can be very hot, often reaching 30°C. However, cool, cloudy, windy, and rainy days are possible. Bring clothing suitable for a range of conditions, including:



Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots (flip flops, sandals, etc. are not permitted on hikes)

A water bottle (mandatory on outdoor programs when the temperature is over 28°C)
