Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business and operations on behalf of the Board of Directors. They will also liaise between the Society and Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology management, complete all financial responsibilities including tax filings, investments, annual audit preparation, and handle all Human Resources related responsibilities for Society staff.

The Business Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance of all Society bylaws, policies and procedures by the Board and all staff, as well as non-profit requirements and charitable receipting.

Responsibilities:

• Compile financial reports and budgets to be presented at monthly board meetings

• Complete annual tax filings and prepare for annual audit

• Invest capital in accordance to Society policies

• Ensure resources are correctly placed to maintain current high standards of operations

• Supervise employees and provide feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness

• Maintain relationship with the Museum, vendors, and suppliers

 

Requirements:

• Proven experience as business manager or relevant role

• Experience in non-profit management

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

• BSc/BA in Business Management or relevant field

 

Assets:

• Experience working with Sage 50, ATMS, and Raiser’s Edge software

• Experience with charitable tax law

• Familiarity with the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology operations

 

Required Skills:

• Independent worker with strong problem solving skills

• Organized and able to handle stressful situations

• Excellent communication and management skills

• Salary commensurate with education and experience
